A 3D digital art project inspired by my work at Tyne and Wear Archives. RMS Mauretania was built on the Tyne by Swan, Hunter & Wigham Richardson in 1906 and a wealth of archive material was about her was available to me during my time there.
After digitising the original glass plates of RMS Mauretania I began to recreate the First Class Smoking Room utilising plans, inventories and letters held in the archives. This 3D interior was further informed by historic images available online and by the original interiors found at various locations in the UK. Together this research culminated in 3D colour views of Mauretania never before seen and QuickTime Virtual Reality renders (QTVR).
A website for Northumberland Archives which tells the story of Stannington Sanatorium, the first purpose-built children's tuberculosis sanatorium in the UK.
The website contained 88 pages of cross referenced content which gives the history of the sanatorium in 2 distinct parts; the medical side which focused on information from patient files and a side which focused on the people/places/events of Stannington.
The website also contained a clickable 3D map which was executed using original site plans and historic images and two galleries.
